Croatia
Croatia has the highest concentration of sailing boats for charter in Europe. To rent a boat, a valid boating license and a VHF radio certificate are required.

Italy
In Italy, a boating license is required for any vessel with an engine power greater than 40 hp and/or a length exceeding 10 meters.

Command of pleasure craft by foreigners in Italian territorial waters
1. Foreigners and Italian citizens residing abroad, holding a certificate of competency or an equivalent document recognized by their country of residence or nationality, may command pleasure boats and ships registered in Italian registers within the limits of their authorization. The license must be kept on board.
2. For boats and ships flying a foreign flag, the boating license requirement is regulated by the law of the flag state.
Spain
In Spain, a boating license is required for vessels with an engine power greater than 15 hp and a length exceeding 4 meters.
