Montenegro is a little jewel located in the heart of the Balkans, a few kilometres south of Croatia, with which it shares the fascination of its rocky coastline, the mountains overlooking the sea, and blue, transparent waters.

This little Balkan country has manifold magical hamlets perched on the cliffs and picture-perfect views to discover. You can start from the small town of Kotor, surrounded by Venetian walls and nestled at the end of the namesake fjord, and pass through the splendid bays of Budva and Sveti Stefan.

Cattaro, Budva and Ulcinj

Montenegro is an ideal destination that attracts a lot of tourists for the numerous landscape and natural beauties: the beautiful sea, the marvellous mountains and natural parks. It is full of art and culture inside a luxuriant and uncontaminated vegetation. The natural conformations are very different: a long coastline but also an extended mountain area that will offer you different opportunities: ski, swim, trekking, cultural tours.

Montenegro is a magic region, that during the centuries has been conquered by numerous populations, such as Greek and Romans, Venetian, Turk and Austrian, and it gained the independence only in 2006. The capital city Podgorica has a privileged position very close to the sea, mountains and the Scutari Lake.

Unmissable the numerous beaches and the coastline, each one with its own distinctive traits: Herceg Novi, the first botanical garden in the Mediterranean area, Carnival and artists city; Kotor, the town inhabited by old fishermen; Budva, full of marvellous beaches, nightlife, theatres and summer events; Ulcinj, the centre of different cultures. Also the cuisine in Montenegro, like the other cultural elements here, is characterised by the shape left from different cultures and populations, in particular the east part of Europe. Herceg Novi is a little hamlet half inhabited near Croatia, well-known both for the different architectural buildings dated back to the different domination that succeeded here during the centuries, but also for the music and food events during springtime. If the Fortress and the Clock Tower are from a Turkish past, some other fortresses and defensive walls were built from the Venetians.

Kotor is a Venetian shaped village where both architecture and language were influenced by the Venetians. The old town is a declared UNESCO site, thanks for the walls, churches and the numerous celebration during the year. Podgorica have been influenced most by the Ottomans: the old town is characterised by an high tower where you could see the muezzin, the modern area is full of gardens, parks, politic and economic buildings and also a dozen of history museums.

Perast depicts an old example of Baroc architecture, characterised by 20 churches around the historical center. 

The Scutari Lake is the most famous natural UNESCO heritage site in Montenegro, ideal place for different water sports but also for walks and mountain bike's routes which cross the little hamlets facing out the lake, normally very similar to fishermen hamlets, also because fishing is the main activity here. Another natural heritage site is the Durmitor National Park, the deepest canyon in Europe and the second one in the World.

For adventure lovers, it is possible to walk around the slopes practising rafting and other numerous water sports connected to discovery, but also some safari tours.
